with the scientists.
Today is the second day of the trip to Florianópolis. Today we went to university called Unisul and a place called sambaqui. In Unisul we took a look at some different rocks, which were part of a fort that was being brought from Spain to establish a settlement in straight of Magellan,. We also went to the biggest sambaqui in the world (for you people who do not know, a sambaqui is a hill of human burials, rocks, and shells.).
The porpose of the activities was for us learn about our history and the history of the people who were America before us. Well you must be thinking for yourself BO-RING but its actually really interesting and a good environment of learning, we believe that all ages would should engage in all activities (but for people below the age of 16 and greater then 30) because you can enjoy the outside runing with your freinds in the sambaqui while still in the sambaqui enjoy a nice family picnic. After the picnic you can head to Tubarao and go to Unisul so you can meet the Scientist that will teach you about the shipwrecks that i talked about, than the other Scientist will teach you about archologicaal findings and the work of historicans.
But of course wile your there you should follow safety procedures or else you will die, kidding you wont but yo could get heart
1)Describe the Activity:
Its described at first paragraph
2)Describe the purpose of each activity:
The purpose of each activity was for us to learn that the sambaquis and indian lands are constantly being destroyed or invaded by other people and if we don't stop now in some years no one will be able to learn about the first people in america because they will be all dead. We went to the Unisul university to learn about a time that people are really tying to learn about. If they can get all the pieces of the boat out of the sea it will be one of the most amazing arqueological discoveries of the century.
3)What age levels may engage in activities?
On paragraph above
4)What safety precautions are taken in each activity?:
on paragraph above
5)Is food served in the activities?
In the Unisul activity food is not actually served but there are restaurants in Tubarao and there i also the Unisul cafeteria (you have to pay), and in the sambaqui activity food is not served at all so if you are a kind of person who get hungry often make sure to pack a snack.
6)How long the activities last?:
Well if you are planing to go from Florianopolis to Tubarao it is a 2 maybe 3 hours car ride. But if you go on both activities, both must be a 3 or 4 hours deal maybe 5 if you're stoping to eat.
7)Is there sun exposure in the activities?:
Well during the Unisul activity there is not a lot of sun exposure because you are mainly inside, but in the sambaquis activity there is a lot of sun exposure and wind so make sure to take sunglasses and a coat.
8)There is a lot of hiking/walking in the activities?:
In the Unisul activity there is kind of a lot of walking but mainly not because is not hard to walk around a university right? But in the sambaquis activity there is a lot of hiking involved, you are hiking the field hills near some lakes and the beach. So make sure to take your hiking shoes.
9)Are there bathroom facilities in the activities?
Yes there are bathrooms in Unisul, but in the sambaquis there are no bathrooms so before going go to the bathroom.
10)Are there souvenir shops in the activities?
There are no souvenir shops neither in Unisul are in the Sambaquis.
11)This activity enriched our trip because i loved to learned about shipwrecks so i liked it and in the sambaquis we learned how fragile the fossils and other indians places are with our invasions and no act from the government they can disappear it was awesome for us to learn more about it.
12)This activity enriched me because I think it was really awesome for us to learn about indians and shipwrecks.
13)What was your favorite activity?
Well it is really hard to say. I totally love both activities but if i really had to choose one i would choose the sambaqui activity because i loved to go exploring the hills the lakes and the dunes.
14)What made the activity your favorite?
us being able to explore the sambaquis freely it was awesome.
15)Have you ever participated in similar activities before?
Well yes and no. I never had visited any university to learn as cool stuff as shipwrecks are, but i did went to a place in chapada do veadeiros were i explored a lot but not as much as i did in the sambaquis.
16)How do the activities reflect on the culture of Brazil.
They reflect about the culture of Brazil because it was the portuguese and spanish who sank the boat so it also reflects in our culture because the Portuguese's colonized Brazil. In the sambaquis it reflect on our culture because of the first people to be on the brazil were not at all the portuguese it was the natives that build that sambaqui.
